Answers to your questions!
You have 2 years access for each course, and can log in 24/7 during this timeframe. Your course access commences from the day you purchase your course, and expires two years from your purchase date. The full course (bundle) expires after 2 years from the date of purchase (ie. the wax course and the metals course expire two years from the date of the bundle purchase). Be sure to check your email folders for your important login details!
No! The online courses don't include provision of any tools or materials. Students will need to source and invest in the tools before they can actively engage in any modules (carving/polishing/setting). There is a breakdown of approximate tool cost for setup in the FAQ's below!
Dahna isn't going anywhere! If you have any questions or require clarification during your course about any of the content in the video/s, it is best to post your question in the comments box directly beneath the video you have a question about. There is also a discussion board accessible to all members of a course where students are invited to share their work or any questions they may have about the coursework. At this stage Dahna is set to answer all your queries once to twice a week! Dahna will be actively engaging with everybody via this learning platform, and it will be monitored. Please refrain from contacting Dahna privately or via Instagram DM's for any matters related to the coursework!
No! All courses delivered by the Madame Mak Wax Academy (including the metals and gem setting course) are not accredited or formally recognised within Australia or internationally, and students will not receive any qualifications or certificates for their participation.
There are many ways to set up your bench, and there are budget friendly tools as well as more expensive options. The tools list in this course highlights the different ways to set up (essential vs non-essential) and the different budgets for each type of setup. At bare minimum you'll require $400 - $500 AUD for a decent wax carving setup, although in this course Dahna shares the full range of tools at her bench (budget to high end) with you to paint the scenery!
If you don't want to invest in power tools for polishing, you can get away with using a series of emery sticks and a brass brush to polish, however it does not lead to a professional finish (approximately $400 AUD for this method). This metals and setting course is taught at a professional level with power tools and attachments, and at the basic level you'll require around $600 - $800 AUD to get a decent set up with power tools and attachments, plus polishing compounds!
Yes! All PDF's and documents in the coursework are downloadable, which means you'll be able to take your tool lists shopping with you, and collate a handy bench reference for some of the topics! Downloadable materials are strictly not to be disseminated to non-members.
Students do not have the option of downloading the course videos, as the files are extremely large and it isn't feasible!
You will have access to the student discussion boards during your course (2 years). Students will lose access to all discussion boards and comments once their course access has expired, so be sure to keep a notebook handy to jot things down!
